September 28, 2021 from 6-8 is Back to School Night
In Vocabulary, we are working on Unit 1. This week Unit 1 cards will come home. Please review them. Please keep the cards at home.
In Reading, our new story is Exploring Space. We will work on Authors Purpose this week.
In Phonics, we will work on long and short vowels.
In Math, we are continuing to review Addition and Subtraction. We will move in to adding 2 digit Numbers.
In Science, Plants, we will work on seeds and how they are scattered.
In Social Studies, we will continue working on Families Long Ago and Families today.
In Writing, we are starting to write our Summer Memory.
In Religion, we are finishing up The Creation Story.

Google Classroom, Mr. Bryan will help the students accept their Google Classroom invitations if they have not done so already.
Please send in a water bottle so that the students may use them throughout the day.

We will be doing a Christian Service Project this year for the local food pantries. This month we are collecting cereal and oatmeal. Please send in a box if you can by the end of the month.
Summer Vacation Pictures needed. Please send in a picture of your child from this summer. The picture should be a vacation or fun memory from this summer.
Please send these in by Wednesday, September 15th.
Agendas will be in Homework folders. Please check the homework assignment on the agenda.
In Reading, we are working on character and setting. We are reading the story, Iris and Walter.
In Vocabulary Workshop, we will begin Unit 1. Students may visit www.vocabularyworkshop.com for games.
In Math, we will be reviewing skills from first grade.
In Phonics, we will be reviewing Long Vowels.
In Religion, we will begin learning about The Creation Story.
In Science, we will begin Unit 1, Plants.
In Social Studies, we will begin learning about family life now and long ago.
In Writing, we will be writing about a summer memory.
In Grammar, we will be working on complete sentences.
We had a great first day of school. We worked on learning classroom routines and expectations.
We did an All About Me poster. All of the children shared their posters with the class.
Thursday and Friday we will present our summer reading projects.
Please send in headphones and a whiteboard to be kept at school.
The children may bring in their own water bottles to keep at their desk.
We are a nut free school. Please do not send in any nut products for your child.

Second Grade Summer Reading I am looking forward to an exciting year with you in Second Grade. We will learn many new things together. I hope you have a safe and fun filled summer. Summer reading is a requirement. One summer reading grade will be given for the book reports that are completed. Please choose 2 books from the list below.Complete 1 book cover for one of your books. Please write about the following: The setting, characters, 8 sentences about important events in the story. Use a coffee can and decorate the outside of the can like a character from your book.
