In Reading, we will continue reading Poetry this week. We will also read The Lifecycle of a Pumpkin.
In Spelling and Phonics, we will review blends. No new Spelling words. In Math, we will continue working on Adding 2 digit Numbers. In Vocabulary, we will have a test on Unit 3 on Wednesday, October 28th. We will begin working on Unit 4. In Science, we will continue working on Animals. In Social Studies, we will finish working on Landforms. Our next unit will be The First Americans. In Religion, we will have our Unit 1 test on Tuesday, October 27th. We will work on Gold Book, Lesson 2. Tag Day is on Wednesday, October 28th. Wear your Spiritwear- $1.00, wear your own clothes $2.00. We will have a Halloween craft, movie, and activities on Friday afternoon. Please send in an extra snack and drink for your child for Friday afternoon. Parents- some have asked if they can send in goody bags. You may send them in, no candy. The kids will pass them out at the end of the day. Conference appointments were sent out last week. Conference days are November 16, 17, 18. 12:30 dismissal on those days. Homework- Mon 10/26- Math, Religion Unit 1 test. Tues 10/27- Math, Vocabulary Test Unit 3 Wed 10/28- Math sheet, Halloween Book Reports are due on Thursday, October 29th. Thurs 10/29- Math sheet Have a great week!

In Reading, we will be working on Poems. We continue using Close Read notes during reading. We look for evidence in the text as we read.
In Spelling and Phonics we will work on blends. Spelling test on Friday. In Grammar, we will continue practicing Subjects and Predicates. In Math, we will start Topic 3, Adding 2 Digit Numbers. In Science, we will continue working on Animals. We will share Owl Projects that we did during Science last week. In Social Studies, we will work on Landforms. Where I Live Projects are due on Thursday. We will share them in class. In Religion, we will finish Session 5 and begin to review. We will have a Religion test on Unit 1 on Tuesday, October 27th. A review sheet and books will come home by Wednesday to start reviewing. In Scholastic News, we will work on Pumpkins. Halloween Book Reports are due on October 29th. Picture Day is Monday, October 19th. Winter Uniform begins on October 20th. Reminder that Friday, October 23rd is a 12:30 dismissal. Food Pantry item for October is pasta. Thank you to everyone who has sent in food. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. I will begin sending conference appointment times this week. Halloween- costumes may not be worn to school. our class moms, Mrs. Nicastro and Mrs. Goldbloom are sending in a craft for the kids and a goody bag. No candy will be in the bags. In Reading, we will continue our story, Places We Go. we started this informational story last week.
In Phonics and Spelling, no new words this week. We will review consonant blends. In Vocabulary Workshop, we will begin Unit 3. We will have a Vocabulary test on Unit 2 on Friday, October 16th. Study cards came home last week. In Grammar, we will work on Subjects and Predicates. In Social Studies, we will continue learning about Communities and Christopher Columbus. A Social Studies homework assignment will be sent home. The assignment will be due next Wednesday, October 21st. Students will need to fill in some information about where they live. They will need to choose a place they like to visit in their community. They will need to tell about the place they like to visit and include a picture. In Science, we will work on Animals. We are focusing on Owls. In Religion, we will learn about Ordinary Time. We will begin reviewing Unit 1 key words and stories. We will have a Unit 1 Religion test next Thursday. A review sheet will come home with the book. In Math, we will review Topic 2. We will have a Math test on Thursday, October 15th. School pictures, Monday, October 19th. Students wear their own clothes. Food Pantry item for October is pasta Homework- Tues. 10/13- Math sheet and Reading Comprehension sheet. Wed. 10/14- Review for Topic 2 Math test on Thursday and review Unit 2 Vocabulary cards for test on Friday 10/16. Thurs. 10/15- math sheet and review for Unit 2 Vocabulary test. Students should choose a Halloween book of their choice for a book report. The book report will be due on October 29th. Directions will be sent home. Have a great week! In Reading, we will begin reading an informational story. We will read Places We Go. this story is all about places in our community.
In Spelling and Phonics, we will work on words that rhyme and consonant blends. Spelling Test this week will be on Thursday. In Religion, we will work on Lesson 1, The Eucharist is About Belonging. We will also learn about St .Francis. Gold Books will come home on Monday. Please review Unit 1. Please cover the books with brown paper or gift wrap. No contact paper. In Science, we will begin our next unit on Animals. In Social Studies, we will learn about Christopher Columbus. In Vocabulary Workshop, we will continue with Unit 2 and then do a review of Unit 1 and 2. In Math, we will begin Session 2, Even/Odd Numbers, Using Arrays, and using Models in Math. In Scholastic News, our issue will be about Fire Safety. School is closed on Friday, October 9 and Monday, October 12th. Enjoy the long weekend. Our Food Pantry item for October is pasta. Thank you to everyone who sent in cereal and oatmeal last month. Donations are appreciated. Kindergarten is collecting socks this month if anyone is able to help them out with their service project. Friday Folders will come home on Thursday this week. Please support the Autumn Auction on October 23rd. Get your tickets. It will be a fun night. Hope to see everyone there!
