In Reading, we are finishing up our Author Study on Jan Brett. We are reading the funny story Elf!
In Religion, we are focusing on Christmas stories. In Science, we are finishing up Hibernation and Migration. We are researching facts about black bears. In Social Studies, we are finishing up Christmas Around the World. In Phonics, we are working on Plurals. In Math, we are continuing 2 digit Addition. We are using the partial sums strategy. In Vocabulary Workshop, we are working on Unit 6. Reminders- 12:30 dismissal on Wednesday, December 22nd. Thank you to everyone who sent in treats for our Christmas party. In Reading, we are working on a Jan Brett Author Study. We will be reading: The Hat, The Mitten, Gingerbread Friends, and Home for Christmas.
In Math, we are working on More Addition with 2 Digit Numbers. In Spelling, we are working on Christmas words. We will not have a Spelling test on Friday because of the concert on Friday. We will have our Spelling test on Monday 12/20. Homework is due on Thursday. In Writing, we are working on several writing prompts about Christmas. In Religion, we will focus on Advent and Christmas. In Science, we will continue our unit on Migration and Hibernation. In Social Studies, we are continuing our Christmas Around the World unit. In Vocabulary, we will have a test on Unit 5 on Tuesday, December 21st. Reminders- Christmas concert is Thursday, December 16th. No homework on Thursday. 12:30 dismissal on Friday, December 17th. Friday, December 17th is a free Blue and White Tag Day. Tuesday, December 21st is a Pizza Lunch. Wednesday, December 22nd is 12:30 dismissal. We will have our Christmas party and Mass at 11:00. Reverse Advent Calendar items: can of soup, macaroni and cheese, rice, peanut butter, box of crackers. Hats and Mittens are being collected for the poor. 25 cent Candy Cane sale begins on Tuesday. The kids can purchase candy canes and a Hershey Kiss for a friend. Have a great week! In Reading, we are working on a realistic fiction story, How to Climb a Cactus. we will continue working on building our comprehension skills, and finding evidence in the text to support our ideas.

In Religion, we are working on Advent, preparing for Christmas, and St. Nicolas. In Spelling, we are working on words that end with s, es, ed, and ing. Spelling test on Friday. Reminders- Wednesday, December 8th is free dress and pizza lunch for second grade. Friday, December 10th, Christmas Traditions Projects are due. Please make sure they are brought to school on time. We will have cookies and cocoa following our presentations. Christmas Boutique days are Thursday, December 9th and Friday, December 10th. Please send money in an envelope with your child's name on it. Thursday, December 16th is the Christmas Show for grade 2. 12:30 dismissal on December 17th and 22nd. Tuesday, December 21st will be pizza lunch school wide for Christmas. Wednesday, December 22nd will be our Christmas party. I will be sending notes home requesting party donations. Reverse Advent items needed this week are: canned fruit, oatmeal, cereal, applesauce, dessert mix. We are collecting hats and gloves for our school wide service project. Have a great week! |
