In Reading, we will continue our story from last week, Who Said Women Can't be Doctors?
We will continue to use evidence in the text to support the Main Idea and Details. No new Spelling words. In Writing, we will be writing about Insects as we do a research project. In Math, we are working on Numbers to 1,000. In Religion, we Honor Mary this month. We will be learning How to Pray the Rosary. Send in rosary beads by Wednesday please. In Science, we are working on Insects. In Social Studies, we will be learning more about American Symbols. First Communion Projects are due on May 17th. In Vocabulary , we will have our Unit 13 test tomorrow. We will start Unit 14. In Handwriting, more cursive! Friday, May 13th Mass and May Crowning. Please wear dress clothes. No sneakers, no jeans! We had a beautiful First Communion on Saturday. Everyone looked great.
I am very proud of all of the children. Gold Books may now be kept at home. First Communion Projects are due on May 16th. In Reading, our new story is Who Said Women Can't Be Doctors? We will continue looking at evidence from the text as we work on comprehension skills. In Math, we will have a Topic 9 Math test tomorrow. We will then move on to Adding Numbers to 1,000. In Spelling and Phonics, our new words are words with closed syllables VC/V. Spelling test on Friday. In Science, we are working on Earth Day and we are starting a new unit on insects. In Social Studies, we are working on Maps used in Communities. In Religion, we are continuing Parts of the Mass. We will also start Honoring Mary by praying The Rosary. In Vocabulary, we are working on Unit 13. In Handwriting, we are continuing cursive. 12:30 dismissal on Friday, May 6th. In Social Studies, we are working on maps and directions. Wednesday, April 13th, First Communion workshop. Thursday, April 14th, Holy Thursday. 12:30 dismissal. No tutoring. Happy Easter! In Religion, we are learning about the events during Holy Week. In Reading, our new story is My Food, Your Food. This is Realistic Fiction and a Procedural Text. We will focus on Making Inferences and Text Evidence.
In Spelling and Phonics, our new words are: oo, ue, ew, and ui. In Writing, we wrote about Spring. We are so excited that Spring is here. In Grammar, we are reviewing Common and Proper Nouns. We are also working on stopping to think about Punctuation. In Vocabulary Workshop, we are finishing up Unit 12. We will have a test on Thursday, April 7th. In Math, we are working on Numbers to 1,000. In Religion, we are working on Parts of the Mass. In Science, we did an amazing job on our Weather Projects. We are continuing our Weather unit. In Social Studies, we are working on Directions and Maps. We will be reading Rechenka's Eggs. This is a beautiful story about the tradition of decorating eggs. In Handwriting, we are continuing cursive. Food Pantry items are : canned fruit, vegetables, and boxed potatoes. Ice Cream on Friday. Student Council Basket Raffle begins on Monday 4/11. March Reading Logs are due on Monday, April 4th. A reminder that both the Sequence sheet and Log are due together. April Logs will be given out this week. In Reading, we started a new story, The Abenaki. This story is Informational Text. We will use charts to help us understand parts of the story. Storytelling, food, their culture, and traditions. In Spelling and Phonics, dipthongs, oi ,oy, ou, ow. In Math, we are reviewing money. We will be moving on to Telling Time. In Religion, we are learning more about First Communion. Please review The Form for Confession and The Act of Confession. First Penance is March 29th at 6:00. In Social Studies, we are working on Women's History Month. This week we will earn about Amelia Earhart and Helen Keller. In Science, we are working on Weather. Weather Projects are due on April 1, 2022. In Vocabulary Workshop, we are finishing up Unit 11. We will have a Vocabulary test on Thursday, March 24, 2022. Pretzel Rod sale on Thursday. 2 for 25 cents. Ice Cream on Friday. We will be attending 8:30 Mass on April 1st and April 14th. Please be at school by 8:20!!! Food Pantry items are tuna and mayonnaise. In Reading, we are finishing up our story from last week. Interstellar Cinderella. and An Island Cinderella. We will be comparing both stories to the traditional Cinderella story.

We will also do a final review for First Penance. We will also read about St Patrick. In Handwriting, we are working nicely on cursive letters. March Food Pantry items are: tuna fish and mayonnaise.
