In Reading, we will start a new story, Interstellar Cinderella. This story is a Folktale. We will focus on visualizing details. We will also compare and contrast characters.
In Math, we will begin Topic 8, Money. In Spelling and Phonics, we will work on r-controlled words spelled er, ir, ur. In Science, we are working on a new unit, Weather. In Social Studies, we are working on Women's History Month. We will learn about women in history. In Religion, we will finish up our last lesson in our Gold Book. Lesson 9, Going Forth to Make a Better World. In Writing, we will finish up our writing pieces on Favorite Foods. Food Pantry items are tuna fish and mayonnaise and tuna fish. 12:30 dismissal on Friday, March 11th.

In Reading, we are working on a new story, The Legend of the Lady Slipper. We are focusing on the plot. The plot has a beginning, middle, and end.
We will use this information to help us complete charts. In Spelling and Phonics, our words are er and est endings. In Vocabulary, we are finishing up Unit 9. We will have a Unit 9 Vocabulary test on Thursday, March 3rd. In Social Studies, we are finishing up research projects on George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. In Science. we are moving on to a new unit on Weather. In Math, we are finishing up Topic 5. We will review and have a Math test on Monday, March 7th. In Religion, we are learning about Lent. We will attend Mass on Ash Wednesday 3/2. We will start attending Stations of the Cross on Friday afternoon. March Food Pantry items are tuna and mayonnaise. Pizza and Ice Cream on Friday. February Book Logs are due on Wednesday, March 2nd. Food pictures should be sent in tomorrow if you did not already send them in. In Reading, we are finishing up the story we started last week, Fables by Arnold Lobel. We are working on finding evidence in the text as we are reading.
In Vocabulary Workshop, we started Unit 9. In Spelling and Phonics, we are reviewing. No new words because it is a short week. In Writing, we are working on ideas for our writing piece on food. Please send in 5 pictures of a favorite food. They should be different pictures of the same food. Please send them in by Friday 2/25. In Science, we are reviewing Solids, Liquids, and Gases. In Social Studies, we are working on George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. In Religion, we are working on Lesson 8 in our Gold Books. Please return Gold Books by Monday 2/28. In Handwriting, we are continuing to learn cursive. Math, we have spent quite a bit of time on 2 digit Subtraction. We will begin to review Topic 5. We will have a test next week. In Science, we are continuing our unit on Solids, Liquids, and Gases. In Vocabulary Workshop, we are reviewing Unit 8. We will have a Vocabulary test on Thursday. Ice Cream is sold on Friday's $2.00. School is closed on Monday, February 21st and Tuesday, February 22nd. We attended Mass on Valentine's Day. Please help your child stay organized. They are reminded daily to copy their homework, gather their homework materials, and clean up their personal space. Cleaning out their folder each night. Responsibility for their homework is important. They know each morning to empty their folder, hand in anything for the office along with their homework. Student council is selling raffle tickets for a Hershey Kiss Count. 25 cents a ticket. Ice Cream will be sold on Friday's, $2.00. February Food Pantry items are baking items, cake mixes, muffin mixes, cookie mixes. Our Valentine's Day party will be on February 14th. We have all of the items needed. Thank you. In Spelling and Phonics, no new words this week. We will have our Spelling test and continue reviewing long vowels and short vowels. In Vocabulary Workshop, we are moving on to Unit 7. In Science, we are working on States of Matter. In Social Studies, we are working on American Symbols and Maps. In Religion, we are reviewing Unit 2 for our test on Friday. In Religion, we are preparing for First Reconciliation by making hearts to show how we heal our hearts when we confess our sins. January Food Pantry item is soup. We will visit the book fair on Monday, January 31st and Wednesday, February 2nd. Please send your child's money in an envelope with their name on it. Friday, February 4, 2022 is a 12:30 dismissal. Green Team is selling little mini pets for $2.00. In Reading, we are starting a new story, A Home on the Prairie. We will continue to work on finding evidence in the text to support information.
